2006-2007 Past News! SNA President Crowned Queen Written by: Kaylie Newton
students and faculty Shannon was able to successfully raise over $600.00 for the Ronald McDonald House of Akron. If it were not for the help of the Ronald McDonald House, Shannon and her husband would not have been able to spend each and every day with their premature son Braden as he spent 86 days in Akron Children’s Hospital. Shannon would like to thank each and every student and faculty member that donated money to not just the Ronald McDonald House but to all of the charities that each of the students were representing. “Without such generous students and faculty, the students would not have been able to raise over $1700.00, a great big thank you to all,” states Shannon. Congratulations Shannon!! Check out our new logo! Written by: Shannon Ball
The new logo will be our official MCN-SNA logo. Thank you to all of the others that submitted a logo. They were all wonderful. Rodney will receive a $50.00 gift certificate to a business of his choice. The MedCentral College of Nursing donated $25.00 and Dr. Zielinski matched the prize with an additional $25.00 for the winner. The SNA would like to thank MCN and Dr. Zielinski for that donation. Two State Awards Received, One Student Elected onto Board
The MCN-SNA was recognized for two awards during the Ohio Nursing Students Association annual conference. Last years president, Kristen Greathouse, was nominated for and received the Golden Buckeye Award. Kristen showed outstanding leadership characteristics and represented all professional student nurses in her efforts to help promote the profession of nursing. The MCN-SNA also received the Legislative/Political Involvement award for Chris Emmel’s participation in the Nurse’s Day at the State House, as well as the presentation of the resolution of heart health for the underserved and uninsured. Christine Beal, an MCN accelerated student has been elected into the Legislative Directors position on the ONSA board. Christian has 12 years experience as a lawyer. She will be a great asset to the new board. Congratulations Christine! Newsletters - October - November - December - January - February |
On behalf of the SNA I would like to thank everyone that has supported us on our way to California. Eleven students will be participating in the 2007 NSNA Annual Convention hosted in Anaheim, California! We are excited to have this great opportunity to experience this life and possible career changing event. We are in hopes of repeating last year by bringing national recognition to the MedCentral College of Nursing by successfully debating and passing a resolution in support of the "Kids First Act of 2005." Thanks again to everyone including the MedCentral College of Nursing for your support! |
