MedCentral College of Nursing
Student Nurses Association
My Name is Coty Weimer and I am the Vice President of the MCN-SNA. I am
currently a Sophomore at MedCentral College of Nursing and this is my
second year as an SNA member. I was raised in Norwalk, Ohio and I
attended Saint Paul High School. In High school I was involved in National
Honors Society, Heart Awareness for Women, folk group, F.I.R.E., and cross
country. I will graduate from MedCentral in 2011 and I plan on working in the
specialty of critical care. I believe that all avenues of nursing are important to
society; however, I think critical care would be both exciting and rewarding to
me.
Hi my name is Tiffany Shafer and I am currently a sophomore, and a second year
member of the SNA. Right now I spend much of my time being busy, but I
absolutely love it.  I am originally from Toledo, Ohio, and I am enjoying college life
so far, and looking forward to what lies ahead.  I am excited to be the secretary for
the SNA and I am hoping for a great year and turn out!!
I am currently a sophomore here at MedCentral and a second year member of
the Student Nurse's Association. I will also be an active member of MedCentral's
Indoor Soccer team this year. I am currently living in the 1081 apartment
complex, but go back home on most weekends to work. I come from Polk, Ohio
and graduated from Mapleton High School in 2007 located in Ashland County. I
have been Employed at Kingston of Ashland, a nursing and rehabilitation facility,
as a Dietary Aide for over three years. I am excited about the activities that the
SNA has planned this year, and am looking forward to serving as treasurer for
the MCN-SNA.
Greetings from North Central Ohio!  My name is Dan Hellinger.  I am a
Registered Nurse and I work as a clinical instructor at MedCentral College of
Nursing (a for year degree program).   I graduated from High School in 1980 and
joined the Army.  I worked as a dental specialist.  In 1986, I finished my military
career and enrolled in a LPN program two weeks after arriving back to the
States.  I graduated from the LPN program in 1987.  In 1992, I went to a small
community college and obtained an associate degree in nursing.  In July 2004, I
complete my BSN degree from UOP Online.  I have held several different
positions to include staff nurse, coordinator, director, and supervisor.  The
majority of my work experience has been in a hospital setting.  The most exciting
job that I really enjoy is the clinical experiences with the students and working the
ED and ICU.  I really like critical care areas! I am an active member of the Ohio
League for Nursing, Faculty Advisor Student Nurses Association, and Sustained
Member for the SNA, and a member of Sigma Theta Tau International.  Besides
working full-time as the “Clinical Instructor,” I work on call for the Mental Health
unit. I enjoy church activities, landscaping, hiking, camping, drawing, gardening,
cooking, and boating.  I have two dogs and two cats.
I am currently a sophomore at MedCentral and a second year member of the
Student Nurse's Association, though this is my first opportunity to be involved. I
am also the recipient of the Dean's Scholarship via the Presidential Scholarship
Competition here at MedCentral. I am currently living in the 1071 "geriatrics unit"
dorm, but go home every other weekend to visit my family. Home for me is
Brunswick, OH. I graduated from Brunswick Senior High School in June 2007 as
an honors student and lettermen in choir and scholarship. I am looking forward to
the challenges this year is presenting me and I hope to rise to the occasion. I am
very happy to be serving the MCN-SNA as website coordinator and I look
forward to my duties in this position.
